Preserving the Season: An Intro to Pickles & Chutney


 A great introduction to preserving – make pickles, chutney & flavoured vinegar

For centuries the craft of preserving kept cupboards and bellies full when there was little fresh food around. Today we continue to preserve seasonal produce to eat sustainably and reduce food waste, plus it’s really fun! In this hands-on workshop you will learn what fruit and vegetables are available in what season and how best to preserve them to enjoy later. From sterilising to storage, we will teach you everything you need to know about preserving safely. This is a great class to begin your preserving adventures with lots of opportunity to taste and discuss this essential kitchen skill.

In this class you will make and take home:

  • a pear & rosemary chutney
  • a jar of fennel pickles
  • a herb & citrus vinegar

At the end of class you will enjoy a Cornersmith plate with plenty of pickles and cheese, a glass of wine or house-made non-alcoholic beverage

Good for: Beginner preservers and those who want to enhance their preserving knowledge
