We are so thrilled to be hosting our very first Community Preserving Competition at the Marrickville Festival!
For all of you who have read our books and come to our classes or just want to have a go, we hope you share with us your favourite preserves. Choose one out of the four categories to enter, (or even a few!) and drop off your entry to The Picklery. There are prizes to be won and the winners will be announced at The Festival. Alex and Jaimee are judging your entries together, and trust us, they are more excited about this than you can imagine!
1. Jam and Marmalade
The sweetest category there is. We are looking for interesting flavours, seasonal fruits and a nice set.
Pickles are where it began for us, so we are looking forward to tasting your spin on our favourite condiment. Keep your brine balanced and your produce crisp. We will accept fruit or vegetable pickles for this.
3. Chutney and Relishes
There is a chutney or relish to accompany any meal. Share with us your favourite recipe. We love everything from the classics to unexpected combinations of spices and produce.
4. Sauerkraut and Kimchi
A category for the fermenters! Whether you are a kimchi nerd or a sauerkraut devotee we want to try your funkiest ferment.
How to enter:
Drop your preserves to the Cornersmith Picklery, 441 Illawarra Road, Marrickville between Wednesdays- Sundays before October 16th. All entries need a label with your name, phone number and listed ingredients.
1st Prize: Wins a place in a Cornersmith Workshop of your choice.
2nd Prize: Cornersmith Cookbook.
3rd Prize: Preserving Jars and a Preserving funnel.
