Teacher: Ava Stangherlin (Cornersmith head chef)
Class type: Hands-on & some demonstration
Class details : The average household throws away 20% of the food they purchase (that's 1 out of 5 grocery bags!) and the environmental consequences of this wastage are considerable. But change can start in the home and we can make big differences by learning a thing or two about food storage, using up those wrinkly and bruised fruit and vegetables and knowing how much can be made from fruit, vegetable or herb scraps.
This workshop is a combination of information, demonstration and hands-on skills.
What do you make?
A black banana jam that is pure waste warrior deliciousness
A sweet syrup for desserts, beverages or cakes that uses up fruit skins
Spice or herb stem paste, concentrated flavour for a quick stock or flavour boost to meals
Also, we will show you a great quick pickle recipe for left over vegetables and our signature waste free chimmi churri.
Other information At the end of class, you will enjoy a Cornersmith plate with plenty of quick pickles, waste free chimmi churri and cheese. Enjoy a glass of beer or house made non-alcoholic beverage. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
